Could you tell me the difference between a Thompson Tommy Gun from Auto Ordnance and one made in West Hurley, New York? Thanks

  The address stamped on the receiver.
  Numrich, I believe, bought the Auto Ordnance trademark and maybe tooling and produced the Thompson + variations in West Hurley, NY.

  The Pre-war Auto Ordnance Thompsons were all built by Colt in Hartford, CT. The quality of the Colt made Thomposons was supurb.
  
  The WWII M1 Thompsons were built by Auto Ordnance in a new plant in Bridgeport, CT and some were made by Savage in Utica, NY. The quality was typical wartime military.
  
  After WWII, in the early '50's, the rights to the Auto Ordnance name and manufacture was bought by Numrich Arms, in West Hurley, NY. The early Numrich Thompsons were mostly assembled from leftover WWII parts and are typical military quality. Later ones are made up of newly manufactured parts and are functional, but not great quality.
