Using GUN-KOTE: One color laid over another?

I plan on doing the flutes of my barrel one color, the rest another. Would it be better to spray the barrel one color, then mask off the other areas and respray? Or, would I just have to spray the flutes, then spray the other area?

Hope that's clear. I hear this stuff has to be blasted off, so I'd like it to work the first time. So, can one color be laid over another?

  I did this barrel with Duracoat. I sprayed the complete barrel including flutes first with the "stainless" color, then masked off all but flutes and sprayed flutes. It will be easier to mask the flat surfaces of barrel than trying to mask flutes.

  Holds up real well. I've found that I get the best durability by blasting with aluminum oxide and parkerizing first, then applying the Duracoat. However, you can get by without parkerizing if you don't have the equipment.
