Win Mod 94 action problem

I have a 1970's Winchester Model 94 that is a good shooter and seems to be a good solid gun however I notice that when I cycle the action the bottom piece of steel that the lever passes through ( I don't have a name for it) does not completely close into the action when the lever is closed. It hangs down about 1/16th" or so, it can be manually pushed up to fit flush with the action but I'd like it to close completely by lever use as I think it is supposed to. Anything to worry about? I've shot hundreds of full power rounds through it before I even noticed it. By the way I am able ( capable) to completely dis-assemble this firearm and replace parts if need be. Winchesters only comment is send it in for repair, ( they won't even attempt to listen to the problem ). Any knowledgeable 94 smiths out there?

    the part you refer to is a 'link'. several possiblities, worn slot in the lever, worn pin that connects the link and lever, worn link retainer (spring loaded plunger at the back of the link) worn receiver (seat for the link retainer).

    Hey thanks Mike.
    All along I had a suspicion that it was the pin or a worn slot in the lever. When I push up on it the link retainer seems to function as it should so I'm pretty sure it's a new lever or pin or both for me. Any idea where to order from or just ask Winchester?

    Ps: do you know of a source for model 94 parts like recievers and wood, barrel bands and the like?

    Thanks Duckhunter but I was hoping for an alternate source for parts, I don't mind dealing with Winchester if it's stuff I can get through the Ogden Utah plant but if you have to deal with the folks at Winchester back east in Conn. forget about it. They are rude and try harder to find ways to not help or not take an order than than they do to solve a problem.

    Gee, Have you tried Numrich Gun Parts on the net? It is a little hit or miss sometimes, but they seem to stock a lot of Winchester parts.
