Please help ID this old rifle

It appears to be a .22 caliber rimfire of an action type unknown to me. There is a round block that looks like a bottle cap containing a firing pin, that raises and lowers to allow loading/unloading. An external hammer that is manually cocked hits the pin to fire. It is similar to a falling block action. On the barrel is marked BELGIUM with the M worn off. Also it has one other barrel marking. It may be slightly different in reality as there is some wear and less than perfect stampings. The best I can tell it says: P. BISCHOP Under that is BRELETE
The quality of manufacture is only fair. The checkering is crudely done. If I shoot it, I think only CB Caps for safety.

    Sounds like a FLOBERT to Me...If You can post a couple of photos we can possibly help you.......BB Caps or CB Caps...Nothing Heavier. The metalurgy left to be desired in the Days of the Flobert Parlor Rifles and Pistols..........

    When you raise the piece for loading is there a tray that slides out
    to accept a shell? Does it have a hex or octagon shaped barrel?

    I had one as I just described. Had Belgium proof marks. When you looked down the barrel half the rifling was gone on one side of the barrel. Shot 22 short in it once. Bullet hit the paper target sideways. Don't have it anymore.

    Sorry,I can't post a picture right now. The barrel is octagon sided. The trigger guard looks a lot like one from an old muzzleloader with lots of curves. When the breech block or cap is raised, a tray like shelf extracts the shell from the chamber. I agree that it is a Flobert style rifle and I WILL be certain to only fire CB or BB Caps in it at very short distances as the rifling in the barrel makes Marlins Microgroove look like deep cut Ballard Style by comparison.Thanks for the information.

    I have one of these guns also,mine the block drops down firing pin in block hammer holds block when fired,i shoot Aguila primer only shells in it.tks hedge
