MAGAZINE SPRING To STRONG

I bought a Springfield arms XD , in .40 caliber.Its suppose to hold 12 rounds in each magazine.After the first five rounds it gets ridiculous. I have one heck of a time pushing 10 rounds down the magazine.Is there anyway to lessen the tension on the spring?

And this has come to pass,not to stay.

    Call Springfield and talk with a service rep. If there is a problem with the magazine they will make is right. Springfield is a good company that stands behind their products.

    Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons.

    It should ease up some with use. The first few times I loaded my 10rd Witness mags I could only get 9 in. Use them a few times and leave them loaded for a while,that should break them in.

    I'm going to cram as many rounds in the mags an let it sit. I can only shoot every other weekend. It sure is fun to shoot. If I get a chance I'll call my local gun shop , and see what they give me for an answer.Thanks you all.

    you might want ot try a mag loader till the springs loosen up a bit. new mags will be hard to load at first but after use they get easier.

    I have magazines that have been loaded and left for yrs with no ill effects, quality factory mags will not be a problem. The only magazines i have a problem with are ramlines for my S&W 5906, have lost tension in those.

    The first thing I tried was a mag loader.It does help.But I'm not kidding the mags are hard to load up to max.My 10-22 is a snap to reload, so is my Marlin 22 mag, but the .40 cal Springfield is tuff.

    This reminds me of the magazine with my firestorm 45 clone spring was still to strong when I got rid of it If anything bumped the mag all the rounds would fly out unless it was in the gun.
