Scoping a .375H&H

Greetings -

I'd like to know what you all think about optics for a Browning Gold Medallion in .375H&H. This the largest caliber weapon I own, and it will be used in Africa next year at distances of 50, no more than 100 yards.

I'm thinking about going as low as 1-4. All thoughts welcome. Thanks -

    I have a 375 H&H ( Win Model 70 Classic Stainless) with a 1.5 to 5 power Leupold vari-x III illuminated scope on it. This seems to me to be a fantastic set up. Scope is low enough in power to see anything even just feet away crystal clear, yet has enough magnification for longer or more precise shots. This particular set up is printing 1" to 1.5" groups at 100 yards. So far all I've shot is targets with it but it is going to Alaska with me this September on a Moose hunt. I have shot this combo enough already to highly recommend it to anybody. My brother shoots a Browning in .375 also with a BOSS and a Leupold scope but I believe he is using a 3.5-10 power Leupold vari-x III his did fine on his Moose trip in 2003 but personally I think he is over powered on his scope.     He's right, that's avery hard scope to beat. Mine aren't illuminated but EVERY hunting rifle I own wears one except varmit rifles and my double rifle. You'll be very happy with it.

    I have a Burris 1.5 - 6X that seems to work real good on a 375 H&H. You might consider a 2.5X or 4X also. I like fixed power scopes.

    get a bushnell elite 4200. they are tested to 10,000 rounds of 375 ammo. i am very pleased with mine.

    I also have a 1.5 to 5 Vari-X III on my 375 H&H Mauser 3000. It has given good servive for the last 25 years.

    My .375 on a 1917 Enfield also has a Leupold Vari-XIII 1.5 to 5 on it.
    Perfect combo.

    My .375 H&H Sako Deluxe is topped off with a Redfield 3X9 wide-view scope. I find it useful to see what's around my point of impact. It's an older scope but it hold true and is clear.
