Colt Firearms

Does anyone know if Colt stopped offering the Single Action Army and Colt Cowboy revolvers? I heard they recently stopped making the Python and Anaconda and noticed a couple of weeks ago that they no longer show up on the Colt website. This week, I tried to go on the Colt website again and I now only see Colt Law Enforcement, Colt Defense and Colt Military. There is no section on their site for civilian colts. Does anyone know what's up?

    I have seen the Colt New Agent model listed as both Series 80 and series 90. Are the ones listed as series 90 double action? Has Colt sold out its civilian line?

    No "cowboys" for some time.

    Today a firearms dealer told me his distributor has a tiny fraction of the Colt commercial handgun output. At rare, infrequent intervals the distributor will tell the dealer he has "one Defendor or one Commander", etc.

    Evidently the output is greatly reduced, and the prices were nudged up a bit. How much of this is Gospel, I do not know. Today he had a stainless Commander 1991, for $790.

    I finally found the Colt Commercial website again, at:

    According to the website, they no longer offer the Python, Anaconda or Cowboy revolvers, just the Single Action Army in .32-20, .357Mag, .38Spl., .38-40, .44-40 and .45COLT. They also still offer various 1911 types and AR-15 (HBAR) rifle types.

    From what I saw of the Colt Cowboy edition and other's comments, it is no loss as the Uberti was far better made at a much lower price.
    I'm sure the SA Armies are probably still well made, but with the wait and the price tag it do make one wince a little.

    Colt DA revolvers, including the Python, will be back in production in 2006. Colt is refitting their plant and also fullfilling backorders for 1911's.

    Colt still advertises the Python Elite under "Custom Services".

    Local dealers told me that due to recent lawsuits against gun manufacturers, colt will no longer sell to civilians. With the exception of their custom shop. Its sad. I love my Colt 45s. But now a lightweight commander runs almost as much as a Kimber.
