Henry AR-7

Recently bought a Henry AR-7 survival rifle for my son. The issue is that the trigger doesn't seem to return every time. One has to click the trigger forward to fire the next round. Is this a lubrication thing or does it seem the return spring is weak ?

    I had one of those. It never worked right. It got sent back to the shop for repairs (for free) 2 times. It took about 5 months each time to get it back. It still never worked right. I traded it in for store credit at the gun store I bought it from. I suggest you sell it, and buy him a ruger 10/22. You'll be happy you did.

    I haven't had the Henry but I have had two others of the same design(one rifle & one pistol). I never had a trigger problem like yours but both had very poor triggers & both were jam-o-matics.
    At least it is very easy to get to the trigger workings to try a little lubrication.

    Have a 10/22 for me. I put Garand sights on it so I can practice my sight alignment/picture. I may get another and put a youth stock on it for him.

    You guys must be the most scared gun owners out there.
    The Henry uses exactly the same design and parts as the original AR-7, and is a piece of cake to repair, tune, load and (rapidly)unload.

    Simply remove the single large screw on the left side of the receiver, lift gently, and look at all 4 parts! Trigger adjustment is done by stoning the contact surfaces (go slowly; it's steel alloy).
    Jamming problems are usually due to using CCI ammo or Yello Jackets with a truncated cone.
    If it fires, but fails to reload; lube the inside of the receiver tube where the bolt lives, and wipe a q-tip across the extractor to get the gunk off.
    Henry's "new design" looks the same to me as the Charter and the late Armalite.

    Remember though, it's a "survival" gun; not an Anschutz! If you screw it up, send it back for fixin' or simply blow another $150.
