Good .223 Bolt Acton Varmit Under $500???

Looking for a good .223 varmit gun with a bull barrel, adjustable trigger, synth. stock in stainless steel. Is that possible or am I dreaming?

    Your best bet is probably Howa or CZ at that price range.

    Might take a look at Savage. Best shooting rifle I ever had was Savage 112 with synthetic stock and bull barrel(Single shot).

    Not that crazy about the Savage but the Howa and Weatherby Vangard looked pretty good. However the price was more than I wanted to spend with the bull barrel in stainless...[:(]

    Howa is the thing to look at. They manufacture the wthby vanguard and have produced a large portion of many other, alternately named rifles. If the savage falls into that price range, you would be good to look at those as well.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    I hate to suggest it, but try or of all places WalMart on the Weatherby Vangard. See if they can order one and how much. Some have said it's downright tough on dealers.

    I have two old Smith and Wesson long guns, one in 308 and the other in 223. They are really Howa. And some of the Weatherbys are really Howa as well.

    buy one, play at the reloading bench and the right mix powder, bullet, primer and OAL and you will make a tack driving machine.

    Savage 12fv..with accutrigger...best out of the box

    There is no way you can beat a Savage out of the box.

    As it's been said, you can't beat a Savage out of the box. With the accu-trigger, scope mount, sometimes a scoped package. When we were full service store, we'd sell them as fast as we could get them in, for around $475. I think the Savages are grossly underated; likewise with the other gunsmiths at our shop...

    Just a thought.
