Black marks on cylinder

[^]anybody got a method for removing black or powder marks on cylinder of s&w 329pd.I have tried just about everything////////////

    Amway chrome cleaner works great.

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    The black marks you are referring to are probably carbon fouling. I have them on all my stainless revolvers(it does not show as bad on a blued gun, but it is still there). I have tried everything on the market with no luck. Most recently , Hoppes came out with a new product called "Hoppes Elite". They claim it will remove any type of carbon from a gun. I bought a bottle from WalMart the other day ($4.98) and tried it. It did take off a lot of the stains, but not all of it. The instructions say to use a brush after letting the cleaner work into the metal for 5 minutes or so. I have not tried the brush yet. I just wiped it on with a cloth and tried to buff out the stain. I am thinking about taking a old toothbrush and see if it will work. I will report back if it works.It is definitely a good cleaning product.

    On "stainless steel" revolvers only, I use the Kleen Bore Carbon/Lead removal cloth. It works instantly. It's also great when cut into patches and pulled through barrels to remove ALL the fouling that you think isn't there. Just don't use it on "blued" frames as it can remove that too.

    M-Pro 7 will do a good job on carbon residue.
