High Powered Scope, Maybe BSA?

Hey all. Am looking for a high powered rifle scope to put on a Ruger .243. I am a big burris guy, but would like to know if there are any high powered scopes that are a little cheaper that would do the job. Was looking at the BSA Contender Target Hunting Scope 6-24x40mm, but am a little hesitant at the $150 price. Seems way to cheap to me. Anybody out there who has some experience with these scopes or anybody who has heard anything about them? Thanks.

    For $150 you get a $150 scope. If Signature is to rice for you go with Fullfield. Personally, I would save a little longer and get the Signature. Put a $150 scope on a $600 rifle and you have a $150 rifle. Some folks here like the BSA scopes pretty well, they do not impress me at all.

    I am with He Dog on this. Good glass is just as important as an accurate rifle for any type of precision shooting.

    Do it right the first time and it will only hurt once. Remember you can't hit what you can't see.

    I have a 1000.00 dollar scope on a 450.00 Savage 10FP that shoots like you wouldn't believe. Optics cost more than a lot of rifles out there.

    Thanks for the information guys. That was my original line of thinking, but a friend has a BSA and told me he was impressed with his purchase. I never have got to look at it and haven't ever looked at any BSA scope to tell you the truth, but was just wondering if his hype about it was a little overrated. I currently have a Burris 3x9 on my .300 win mag and absoltely love it! I will most likely purchase another fullfield or possibly the signature series scope if i can find a deal on one. Any suggestions as far as sites or places to get a good deal on one?

    www.natchezss.com is also worth a look. Look several places so you know the price range on the one you want, and then a good deal is easy to spot. Both Bearbasin and Natchez do frequent sales.

    I have 2 contenders 3x12 & 4x16. They are ok in the lower range but only mediocre in the higher end. On the other hand, I've never had either to lose zero. The 3x12 is on a 308 heavy barrel that I keep ready to go for long range practice and the occasional dumb coyote. Neither is subjected to much recoil.

    i have a bsa 8x32x50mm on my rem 700 22-250 varmint gun , i have no complaints out of it for what i use it for... my buddy has the same scope on his 7mm remington ultra mag... he has no complaints either out of the scope.. holds zero still under the heavy recoil of the 7mm RUM...

    im with remington nut, i have exact setup. you can get the BSA's for $110 is what i paid for mine

    Not positive, but you must have the "Contender" model then? When on high power how is the clarity? I have heard some guys complain about that, but for the price im definitely considering trying one at the very least. Thanks for the info. guys.

    I have a 36x fixed power BSA 1/8 minute dot on my 7STW
    MAN! You can almost see the grain in the paper @ 100 yds.
    It is well worth the money to me! I have not tried a BSA
    varible scope yet, but I want too!!

    I sell lots of Contenders and Deerhunter BSA scopes. Very little complaints at all. I put one on a 17 that I had and it performed well.

    It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.
