Hi Standard Sentinel Revolver
A buddy has a Hi Standard Sentinel 9 shot .22 revolver that he got form his father not to long ago. We no is shoots .22LR cause thats what his father shot. We think it will shoot magnums too. The cylinder will hold magnums and the gun only says ".22 caliber" no LR or WMR. I can email pics to see the markings. Does it shoot both? Does anyone have any info on this gun?

the gun was designed to take interchangable cyl's to shoot 22LR and mags. depending on which cyl is in the gun should decide what to shoot in it. check the cyl to see if it has any MAG marks. if in doubt, bring it to a gunsmith and have him check it out for safety.[;)]

I still have a scar on my face from a friend's Sentinel that shaved lead because the cylinder failed to index properly. Don't stand next to your buddy when he shoots.

If that cylinder will chamber magnums, it is probably a magnum cylinder. .22 LR cartridges are slightly smaller in diameter and a good deal shorter.
If you are shooting .22 LR in a magnum cylinder, you should be seeing fired cases that are split at the neck when you extract them.
And, again, the cylinder SHOULD be marked somewhere. It may be a very inconspicuous mark, but it should be there.
