Value of Winchester Model 94

Could someone help with determining the age and value of a gun that I acquired? Here are the specifics on the markings:

1. Winchester Proof Steel - Model 94 - Winchester Trade Mark - 30-W.C.F.
2. Made in USA Winchester Repcating Arms Co
3. Serial # 1186695
4. Also has this number hand inscribed into the metal: 388369167

  Margie-your carbine was made in 1939. Unfortunately, without a lot more information, it's impossible to determine value. Best thing is to send some pictures of the gun from each angle; otherwise, describe the % of blue left on the metal surfaces, condition and amount of original finish on the stocks, condition of the bore, front and rear sights. The long number "hand inscribed' on the metal doesn't help the value. Try to send the above info. and someone can help. -Asa

  hand inscribed number is likely a social security number, inscribed for identification in case of theft. Bad idea for value.

  Good call HeDog! Correct amount of numbers etc...sure hope no one does anything unscrupulous with the number though.
