Scope for 50 BMG Continued.

For a 50 BMG, save your cash and get a Nightforce or Leupold Mark 4, yes they are expensive, 1000.00 and more. But worth every penny. Your 50 will bust scopes that are not rated for that type of abuse.
If you plan to use the 50 for extreme long range stuff, those regular scopes will not cut it. Not enough elevation to get you out there.

No use putting a cheap scope on it, it's just gonne beat it to death in short order. AND, it's the break that makes scopes fail. The reverse recoil of the break is what shakes internals loose on scopes not made for large rifles with breaks installed.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

I belong to a 50 BMG forum where some members have had problems with the Super Sniper.
As I said in my first post, I expect to be buying something next year but would like to get something cheap this year to try it out.
I have a used Tasco that I may use. If (when) it breaks only $25 out.

Check out Sniperhide's forsale forum. I see some go for 275.00 or so used.
A 25.00 Tasco isn't going to hold zero on a 50BMG. That if you plan on doing long range shooting with a 50BMG you will need good glass to see your target.

Wast of time and money to sight rifle with any thing BUT a .50 rated scope. You will only have to do it again. You will see the reason when the scope fails. I have learned by others who did not go the .50 rated scope. Life is short! Do it right! Best, Robert[;)]

I bought an Aetec to try on a 28 pounder because I've seen them on a 416 Rem and a 458 Win and they've held up well for quite a while. Haven't put it on yet because there's a Bushnell Trophy on it now and am just waiting for it to trash, but it's still alive after about 300 rounds.
I have a B&L 6x24 on a 38 pound rifle and it works in that sliding mount just like on a 300 Win Mag.
I know the Trophy isn't one to use for long range shooting, but just like when I used to date, I go more for penetration than accuracy or distance.0
