plastic sabots
Im going to try the sabots in a 30-06 bolt action. Holds a.ss4 bullit and you can get 4300 fps.Says they can hold 1 inch at a hundred yards and with little recoil.Has anybody tried these ? http://www.eabco.com/

Richard, if the accuracy were as hyped, Remington would not have discontinued the .30-06 / .308 loadings with the saboted .22 pills. Based on my limited experience and that of some friends, these are not bad, just not any great advantage to them. Bear in mind at the velocities claimed, some bullet jackets will tend to break up, so you have to be sure to choose designs with the heavier jackets and for varmint hunting (the only real reason to do this) the terminal performance will not be as effective / dramatic. Bottom line: downward compromises in accuracy / performance in exchange for "cool."

I haven't tried them, but I doubt they will hold 1" at 100 yards. At least the original sabots wouldn't even come close to that. If I were you, I would stick to a real good 125 grain bullet, like the 125 Nosler BT, load it to about 3100 fps with H4895, and you will no doubt be very happy with the results. I'm not a real firm believer in ultra-high velocities, but that's only my opinion. One more thing, in windy conditions, the load I suggested will serve you much better than the ultra-high velocity with the light bullet any day. 0 -
i've seem it tried, not that accurate! there is a reason that 223 & 30 cals have different barrel twists 
it's not the type of gun you have in the heat of a battle that counts, only if you have enough ammo for it, lets face it, a gun without ammo is only as good as a base ball bat!!0
