Big problem With Remington 11

I posted for some asnwers on a Remington 11. Well here are some more i took it to a local gun smith and we ran into a large amount of problems. The first trigger plate was loose as a goose the second fit but didnt reach the back of the reciver. The second trigger plate was the old style. first on was supposed to be a regular one. What should i do. I know it was made in 1947 and it has a bird scene on it. anything special about these. I could really use the Help Thanks

    its a common gun. sell it for parts and make some money and save the headaches of hoping it will work some day.

    Morning Chris,
    The Remington Model 11 is a very basic gun. The early ones
    had the safety within the trigger guard and utilized the old
    style trigger plate. If, in fact, your gun was made in 1947
    it was one of the last made. Production ceased in, I believe, 1948.
    You would need the newer trigger plate. Your gun had a push button
    safety (or should have). My WAG is that the trigger plate that was sloppy was from a Model 11 in .16/.20 Ga. The presumption is made that you have a .12 Ga. I would just locate the proper trigger plate
    and install. No big deal.

    It seems most everyone would like to get their old smokepole running again, but from what I have seen of Remington Model 11s and actual frustrating repair issues re that shotgun, bobski is right.
