Remington 870 Magnum, "Special Purpose Mag"

I'm considering purchasing a Remington 870 Magnum, "Special Purpose Mag" (SN#: W710349M) 12G, 26", American Walnut (non-gloss stocks with recoil pad and swivel mounts) and I.C. choke. I can't seem to find any info about it. The casing indicates "Special Purpose Mag", not Express nor Super. This finish is a matte dark olive, as opposed to the matte black of an Express. This gun is in exceptional condition and hardly used.

My questions are:

What year was this gun manufactured?
What's the pro/con's of the matte dark olive finish compared to typical matte black of an Express?
Are there any significant differences between the "Special Purpose Mag" compared to a typical Express Magnum (pros/cons)??
What might this gun be worth in excellent (very slightly) used condition?

    I'll defer to the true Remington fanatics, as they will surely have the best answer. Blue book says Spec. Purpose with wood stocks discontinued 1992, add $75. 100% 445, 98% $350, 95% $280, 90% $245.

    I seem to remember these came out about the time the Express Package guns came out. They have a bead blast /matte finish and were a little before the camofinishes(mossy oak, woodland, ect) and synthetic stocks started coming in. They seemed to be a "working" finish on a Wingmaster type chassis. I think it's supposed to be matte black, but also seems I remember a waterfowler type gun produced. A little nicer mechanicals, finish and wood than the "express" guns.

    Thanks for the response allechalley. They're asking $289.00 for it, which seems about right according to your numbers. I was told the finish was intended to be more of a "military finish" and is supposed to be more durable/better than the Express's matte finish. Any idea if that's true??

    Can anyone else tell me anything about this shotgun? Year made, finish quality, mechanics quality?? The asking price of $289 is partially because it only has 1 of the 3 original choke tubes (I.C.).

    FYI... here's what the Remington Support Rep had to say:

    Thank you for your inquiry. According to the serial number you provided, your Model 870 was produced in 1988. Unfortunately, we no longer produce that model. Currently, we only have the Express version & the Super Magnum. The Special Purpose finish is a little more weather resistant than the Express finish. There are no mechanical differences between the Special Purpose, Express, & the Wingmaster.
