aetec scopes part II

Not to beat a dead horse, but I happen to think the Aetec is priced too low.

I have 1 that is 4-5yrs old and 1 that I purchased this year and put on my Savage 10ML which has seen multiple sub MOA groups at 100yds with 250gr sabots. The first is on a 22" barreled M77 MKII in 30-06 and after load developement and barrel break-in (guessed at 200rnds) it still allows me to print sub moa every time and has gone .5moa and better when the shooter was up to the task.

I find the Aetec to be a great scope for the money. The glass is clear from edge to edge, the field of view is large, and focusing the reticle and objective together seems to be almost effortless in the 2 I have.

I have everything from the top end Tactical glass on down to the low end glass. The 2 low price optics I find to be value priced are Bushnell Trophy series, and Simmons Aetec series. This year they have a 4-14x44 with side focus for $224[:0] in the natchez catalog. Great glass for the money.

That being said, a Burris signature (even used) will make you happier if you can stand the wait.[;)]

snellstrom, my mini-14 crapped out a Trophy scope in less than 100rnds that held a perfect zero on my browning a-bolt. I think we may need to blame the vibration of the mini's cycling action rather than the scopes they destroy. Seems like too much of a coincidence to me, but I could be wrong.



why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I wanted to relate my experiences with the scope in question and my experiences with their customer service. It may be a great scope for a lot of people I have personally not had a good experience with them and don't have faith in them as I do the Burris and Leupolds. No offense intended just given it to ya straight. The other day I even saw someone bashing Leupolds as junk and recommended a Simmons I believe in its place, why I had to bite my lip and slam my fingers in a door to keep from responding to that hogwash, but I settled down knowing that everyone is entitled to an opinion, although usually based on their experiences good or bad or worst case some mis-informed gossip.[;)]
    Just c you are correct the Mini is harsh on scopes, but the current scope on the gun is holding up better, I won't name names but its initials are L_____d.! (Oops).

    You still have not answered the question I asked you on the other post which was,Was it a Simmonds Aetec? or which model was it? We were discussing just one of their models the Aetec.Up to now I have not heard one bad word about the Aetec? [:)]

    As I stated before we have sold a ton of Aetec's with never a problem. They are definitely underpriced and better than any Leupold or Nikon low end scope in that price range. The Aetec is the only Simmons scope I would recommend though.

    BY FAR THE BEST VALUE IN ITS CLASS. SOLD A GOOD MANY MYSELF AND I HAVE YET TO GET AN AETEC RETURNED FOR REPAIRS. PUT ONE ON MY 10YR OLDS 243 AND WHEN I COMPARED LIGHT TRANSMISSION TO MY VARI-X III I FOUND IT TO BE AS GOOD. GOOD EYE RELIEF,GREAT FIELD OF VIEW,AND CLARITY IS DESCENT ALTHOUGH NOT AS CLEAR AS THE VARI-X III.

    I WAS TOLD BY A SALESMAN THAT SIMMONS WAS PLANNING ON A REPLACEMENT MODEL SOON AND WOULD NO LONGER BE MAKING THE AETEC.ANY TRUTH TO THAT?

    hey guys, just wanted to let u know that i met a guy at the range that actually had an Atec on his 700 Bdl in 300 win, and he was nice enough to let me take a few shots. gotta say i'm impressed with the clarity of the scope. i do own a burris signature select, and although u can tell the difference in quality between that and the atec, for the money, i didn't think that i could go wrong. I went to my dealer and had him order me one. ($165)

    I have a Simmons Aetec, 2.8-10X44 on my Bushmaster AR flat top. Never had a problem with it. Paid about $140.00 (the mounts were almost as much). I wanted a Leupold or Burris, but too expensive, especially just to shoot at paper targets. I'm happy with the AETEC.
