Lachmiller (RCBS) Bullet luber/sizer problem

My 19 year old 6'5" 275 pound son was sizing some .38's.

He tightened the lube pressure plunger down so far it either stripped out the plunger or rod; it also may have came off of the threads on the pressure rod.

It looks like the threaded rod is attached to the base through a machined round plate in some manner. How do I remove the luber base and rod assembly to determine what is broke or stripped?

I tried holding pressure on the lube follower with a screwdriver while turning the rod but I can't get the treads to start.

Any help is appreciated!

    Hello If you are lubeing bullets you should look into a Star Lubersizers they are the best and fastest the bullet goes in the top .and comes out the bottom and has a lube pump all in one stroke .

    I called RCBS, Brian told me how to remove the threaded rod. I got it fixed tonight. Put new o rings on it and I'm back in business.

    Thanks for all of your input.

    One problem with the star is seating gas checks. I am not sure you can with a straight through die/luber

    Can't beat RCBS customer service. Aside from my RL550 press everything I have accumulated is RCBS.....
