Magnum Research BFR Revolver
Hey all,
I own a 45/70 BFR Revolver and am considering sending it in to have them make me the 450 Marlin cylinder. Are there any owners out there who have done this and could give me some of the basic facts like how long it takes? About how much does it cost? And any other useful information. Thanks.

ihave a 45-70 bfr and dont think it's worth the money to get the other cylinder... ballistics arent that different to justify the need for the marlin cylinder... just a thought... 0 -
Very true remington nut. Just found out it would cost around $150 maybe a little more and thats not worth it to me. Like you say, velocities are similar and the recoil would be worse in the .450 Marlin. 0 -
IMO the marlin is just a modern day 45-70, for what little difference there is between the two it wasnt worth the hassle or money to send the gun off for a new cylinder with the 3 variations of the pressure levels of the 45-70 they figured it would be safer to make a similar cartridge in place of the *outdated* 45-70, hence the belted case on the 450 marlin, so it doesnt get chambered in the 45-70. shooting out of a pistol it doesnt matter which factory loads that you use of your BFR. i reload and have shot max loads repeatedly out of mine, although magnum research claims it voids the warranty of the pistol, i shoot over 1800 fps with a 300 gr seirra jhp, and at 75 yards i keep about a 4 inch group, i get better groups at lower velocities but i dont get the roar of the 45-70's full potential which is part of the fun of having the pistol 0
