ID help on old SxS please.
I picked this thing up over the weekend as part of a "package" deal.
10 ga.,exposed hammers,30" bbls.
On each side of the frame(locks?) is "J N SCOTT",and what looks like a grouse or similar bird in flight.
On top,between the bbls. is "St. Louis-Field-London Fine Twist".
On the water table and on underside of the bbls.,I find proofmarks that appear to be crossed swords(or something similar) w/a crown above,a "B" to the left,a "P" below and a "C" to the right.The Blue Book has this proofmark on page 1582,22'nd Edition.At least that's the only thing that even comes close.
The buttplate has what appears to be an anchor inter-twined with a "B" and below that is a figure of a dog holding a dead bird.
It has a fair amount of engraving on all the metal parts except the bbls.
The(wooden?) grip-cap is what appears to be like a "sun burst" w/an engraved screw in the center
Any help ID'ing this old wall hanger would be appreciated.

BOBBYWINS: Looked thru My database and thru Boothroyds British Gun Makers...and Baldersons Antique Firearms...No Listing for JN SCOTT shown...I suspect that Your Gun is a Belguim Knock Down..I have the SCOTT Family Tree here in front of Me...No J N Scott is shown...
Is there an OVAL with the letters E over LG in the center on the Water Table? or the same Mark with a Crown on the oval...?...Can You Post a Photo of the Proof Marks and Pressure Proofs....?

The B P C and crossed scepters is the Birmingham, England proof mark, but Vorisek's "Shotgun Markings" lists J. N. Scott as a brand name used by Henri Pieper of Liege, Belgium. (Probably coined to make gullible buyers think it was a product of the famous W & C Scott firm of Birmingham) 0 -

No ovals,no "E" or "LG".
I went and looked at it again and there is a couple of things on the underside of the barrels that I forgot to mention.[:I]
Left bbl.;"11B" over "11M".Just to the right of this is "NOT FOR BAL" and what my be another "L"(so it may be "BALL"),but it's almost worn smooth at that point.
Also a "12" on each bbl.(I'm calling this a 10 ga. because a 12 almost drops through it,so I don't know what these "12's" would mean.)
Sorry that I can't post a picture since I haven't gotten geared up for that yet.[:(]
Maybe I can get my daughter to help me take some tonight and E-Mail them to you tomorrow.

Bobby- From Carders SxS's of the World: Scott, J.N. is third generation to William Scott, the founder of Wm. & Chas. Scott of Birmingham, England. His father William Middleditch Scott established W & C Scott and Son in the 1850's. Apparently J. N. Scott went on his own to produce this side by side, which bears Birmingham proof marks from before 1904 (at least 1895 from illustration note), on frame and barrels. The workmanship is very good, but not quite up to the standard of England's best quality. The name J.N. Scott is engraved on each side plate and on top of rib it is marked ST. Louis+Club+Fine Damascus Steel. It is described as: a sidelock with outside hammers, detachable Damascus barrels, lightly engraved, checkered wood, splinter forarm, rib extension, top lever opener, silver shield in bottom of stock. J.N. Scott also built guns with side lever opener Bobby, this appears to be a description of a single shotgun, with no indication of other models. Birmingham or Belgium? Probably worth having a hands on look by some one who would know. 0 -
Thanks guys.He Dog,your discription fit's this thing to a "T".Even the "silver shield in bottom of stock"(that I neglected to mention BTW).
I'll have to find someone in the area that can shed a little more light w/a hands-on inspection.

Bobby if the description fits that well, It is likely a Birmingham gun. Sorry I cannot give you any idea of value. 0
