Who can recommend a scope for a .50 bmg?

I'd like to stay under $500. My FFL has a Tasco Tactical but I've heard of the .50's beating the hell out of scopes.

    Which .50? I'm told that the AR-50 muzzle brake is effective enough that any good quality scope will survive.

    Seriously though, stick with a high end scope. If you can afford $2500 plus for a 50BMG (please don't tell us you bought a Hesse or Vulcan 50BMG)then save a little more and get a real scope.

    Look for a used Burris Black Diamond (will need 30mm rings).

    The rifle is an Anzio 50. I'm stretched a little thin but will spend a few hundred to be able to shoot it this season. I'd like to have something to sell when I upgrade and not just a pair of magnifying glasses and a metal tube.

    Maybe I'll just use my $25 used Tasco for now, I don't expect to be shooting it more than 400 yds this year.

    Thanks for the tip. 8-32 ~$750 new on GB, may be able to swing it but I'll look for used, too

    If you can scrape up $750, perhaps you should look at the Shepherd line of optics at IIRC around $650

    Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    Any thing less than a .50 cal. rated scope is money down the drain. It will break and then it is worth nothing. Save for a good scope. I recomend a Nightforce NXS 5.5x22x56mm N2 ($1,250). I have two and they are not only great, but they are worth almost as much as I paid for them. A sound investment! A rifle will only shoot as well as it's scope! Best,Robert[;)]
