Beretta 9mm to .40 Conversion Kit for 92/96

Beretta made a conversion kit for the 92/96 that converts 9mm to 40 cal. It is not in their current catalog. Was there a problem related to the .40 cal causing frame cracking? I thought I read somewhere that the .40 caused too much stress for the 9mm 92. Does the kit have a slide and barrel?

  No, the frames are exactly the same. The main weakness in the 96 design related to cartridge power is the extractor. It will slowly get bent, just take it out and hammer it back into shape.
  
  Yes, the kit has a slide and a barrel. I got a mag with mine, yours may be different. Factory Beretta mags are interchangeable, the only difference is the round count holes. Mec-Gar mags are high enough quality to work with either, as well.
