COLT 32 1903 SERIAL NUMBER STARTS WITH "M"

JUST SAW A COLT 32 1903 HAMMERLESS LOOKED PARKERIZED (FLAT FINISH) NOT A GLOSS BLUE, BUT THE SERIAL NUMBER STARTED WITH AN "M" FROM WHAT I REMEMBER IT WAS A 6 DIGIT SERIAL NUMBER FOLLOWING THE M BUT NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS, I THOUGHT MAYBE A MILITARY ISSUE BUT THE SELLER AT THE GUN SHOW HAD NO CLUE AND NEITHER DID I, SO DID I MISS A GOOD ONE OR WHAT?

    I found a reference that noted that the last 10,000 Colt Model 1903's, made in 1944 & 45 were parkerized this was approximately serial numbers 562,000 to 572,000+. Also it was noted that some of the Model 1908 .380's have a "M" stamped before the serial number. These 380's were also W W II production pistols, but they weren't parkerized.

    Given these were pistols produced during W W II, I have to believe they were made for either Military or Paramilitary use. My 2? is that you let a sleeper get by you.

    these were issued to 'general' officers, when you got your first 'star' you got to pick a personel pistol.

    I have one as a shooter and it shoots flawlesslt, also the lines are perfect and the machining is fantastic. Depending on what he wanted you did let one get by ya.
