Stock for M-1 Garand

The stock on my Greek rack grade M-1 is pretty rough. I would like to get a better one but I don't want to put too much money into the rifle.
I found an ad in The Shotgun News that lists a "Boyd' made Walnut wood" M-1 Garand stock set for $69.99/set. This seems almost too good to be true. Does anyone know anything about this product.

    I have used Boyd's stocks on Garands and found them to be excellent.They have a website www.boydboys.com .good luck.

    Here is an e-mail link to a maker that I think is better than Boyd's, mostly because these match the original profile. The Boyd's is an oversize. gunstock@wenig.com

    I tried the web site for boyd & there were several I would have liked more information on but when I click on them none of them will load. They start & then stall no matter how long I leave them on.

    Boyd's are also sold by Midway.
    The guys on the CMP (www.odcmp.org) board report the Boyds and being oversize also, but that just means you have wood to work with [:D]

    I have bought two Boyd's stocks in the past and they are well worth the price. But they are not drop in stocks regardless of what their literature says. They do fit the action pretty close but will require minor adjustment. The biggest problem I see with them is that on certain styles of stock there is a lot of wood to remove. I am currently working on a model 98 JRS stock and it had at least 1/8" of wood in most areas and more in other areas to remove before it was right. But I have run into this problem with other makers also so have lelarned to live with it.

    Boyd has just made a limited production run of special stocks that are made to USGI milspec. Making an exact reproduction of a stock shape is the easiest thing in the world; why Boyd would make their standard stocks oversize, but make you pay extra to get one in the correct dimensions to fit the rifle, is beyond my understanding.

    Cause that requires a better manufacturing process, with tighter tolerances and better more expensive equipment to get those tighter tolerances. They can sell more 96% inletted stocks then they can sell 99% inletted stocks any day of the week cause most people will bed the rifle anyways, so why buy the more expensive stock.
