im looking into buying a Romanian WASR-10, are these good, reliable rifles like other ak models?? if not what is better for under $450, Russian?? Yugo??

    Is a WASR-10 any good? I know it is an AK variant, but don't know much about it. It has the one piece butstock with the built in pistol grip with a big cutout in the middle. Is it legal to change this to a regular butstock and pistol grip? What other modifications can I make legally?

    They are identical cept the wasr10 hicap was originally a wasr 10.

    The wasr 10 hicap has had it's mag well drilled out to accept standard AK hi cap mags wheras the wasr 10 will only accept the puny/modified 10 round mags.

    I have the Rom WASR 10. Very reliable, but is finicky on which mags it will take. Several good sites available on how to modify the mag-well to make it accept more mags. Here's one good site to check out: http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/model.htm
