Please give your opinions of an Ruger, Police Service Six, stainless(2-3/4" barrel)Pro or Con, as follows:

1)How good do these revolvers shoot, in the(2-3/4")barrel length?

2)How do you like these short barred, Police Service Sixes?

3)How desireable or popular are these revolvers?

4)If you had two choose between an(2-3/4")Police Service Six or an GP100(3")revolver, which would be your choice(And, why?)?

5)Are these stainless(2-3/4")Police Service Sixes, somewhat difficult to find(Or, not?)?

6)Please comment on anything that you might wish(Pro or Con?)regarding these "Stainless" Police Srvice Sixes?

    I MIGHT ADD, THAT IF NOBODY OWNS A STAINLESS RUGER, POLICE SERVICE SIX-THEN-HOW ABOUT REPORTING SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR BLUED(2-3/4")POLICE SERVICE SIXES, INSTEAD?

    As good as you can aim.

    They are bulky for a snubby. Make a good tacklebox gun, or home defence piece. Too big and heavy for concealed carry.

    For a dealer, they are slow to sell. There were thousands of low cost police trade-in's 15 years ago that put one in the hands of about everyone who wanted one. I sold dozens of them for $150 and sometimes less.

    The Police Service Six because I could get a used one for about half what a GP100 would cost and it would do the same thing.

    Don't know. Haven't been looking for one in a while.

    If you buy one, get it cheap, like not over $150.

    I cant speak for the snubby version but i do have a 4 " version that i like, the only problem is the single action notch on the hammer is worn away and havent found a replacement so i had a gunsmith friend bob the hammer and now it is a DAO revolver.

    Did you ever consider that you could have sent your Police Service Six back to the Ruger Company and, they most likely, would have fixed it for free(By installing a new hammer-and, whatever else it might needed to make it again, 100%)?

    Pretty much agree with everthing 1arm has to say. Bought mine used in probably 95% condition for $180 three years ago. Well built, but like he said, sort of a brick to carry. See them from time to time at gun shows. Often, if you ask a dealer, he might have these in his back room. They take up space of the wonder nines, .45's ect that the latest and greatest could be displayed. You might ask at a couple dealers and be surprised what they bring out of dusty shelves. I was going to say nearly indesructable, but k.stanonik proved me wrong, but I would say it had to have a fair amount of shooting. Most of these rode around in the holster far more than they were shot. Shooting full power .357 is easily doable (not the .38 spec. version) without the hand stinging, ect. from a light snubbie that seems popular (until they shoot them).
