savage hunter 30.06
well I bought my 1st rifle, savage hunter 30.06 with a simmons pro hunter scope 4-12x40. what is your opinion on this gun and scope I do most of my hunting in the mid-west (whitetails, boars and rams). My brother reloads and I was wondering if any of you have any insight on powder,bullets and at what grain? As always your opinion matters. And what can I do to make this rifle MY rifle Im planing on a new boyds stock any other items you can think of dont hesitate to mention them.

i got a savage 111 in 30-06 and a 110 in 30-06, the 111 has the synthetic stock and simmons scope. the scope isn't very good but the rifle is great. i've had very good results with IMR 4350, Reloader 22 and hornady 180 gr.and 165 gr. spire points and remington brass. nosler partitions and ballistic tips have very good accuracy also...come to think of it so have the speer boat tails and hotcores. the 165 grain bullets are usually used for caribou and the 180's we use for moose. i'd save for leupold or a other high quality scope, either way you picked very good rifle and a great caliber. just my opinion.
