shipping hand gun

Can a private party ship a hand gun via US Priority Mail to FFL in another state? One post office said only FFL to FFL while another said it was OK. Does anyone know the answer. UPS and FED EX will only ship air overnight at a cost of $40+. Whereas priority mail with insurance is under $20....

  You were told right; nonlicensees cannot ship or receive handguns through the US Mail. See for yourself; go to the USPS website & look it up in Publication 52, section 234.
