Best 17-HMR rifle???
I want to buy a 17-HMR, and need to know what's great out there.

I heard the Marlins were pretty good. Smooth trigger, good fit and finish. 0 -
A ruger 10-17 (basically a Ruger 10-22 chambered for the .17HMR).
For a bolt action a marlin will be good.

Hello,
I have been very pleased with the Marlin 17VS I purchased. It is a real tack driver. A friend smoothed the trigger out for me. I am a Ruger fan also, but chose the Marlin. I like the laminate stock, bull barrel and stainless look. Rings come with the rifle but aren't much.

Got a Ruger 77 that shoots as good as I could want it to. 3 shot in the same hole at 75 yards. Can't ask for no better than that. 0 -
i'll have to say a ruger 77 vhz .17...thats what i have and i get one hole shots...can probally buy something else for half the price but i like the looks and feel of the ruger...tom 0 -
I'm kinda partial to my H&R/NEF Handi-Rifle. Sure, it's single shot, but for the $149 I paid for mine new, there was plenty left over for some nice Leupold glass.
Accuracy is right on at about a minute of pigeon/skunk/crow out to about 125 yards...I guess that's good enough for me.

I HAVE SHOT THE MARLIN HEAVY BARREL [WOOD] AND THE SAVAGE HEAVY BARREL [SYNTHETIC] . MARLINS NEW TRIGGER IS AN IMPROVEMENT AND BETTER THAN THE SAVAGE TRIGGER OUT OF THE BOX. I LIGHTEN UP THE TRIGGER ON THE SAVAGE AND IT PRODUCES SOME IMPRESSIVE GROUPS [3/4" @ 100YDS.] WITH THE HORNADY AMMO . THE MARLIN GROUPS [1"@100YDS.] WERE NOT AS TIGHT BUT ONLY TRIED THE HORNADY V-MAX . THE RUGER 77 ST.STEEL LAMINATE IS A FINE LOOKIN AND SHOOTIN RIFLE WITH THE FEEL OF A CENTERFIRE BOLT ACTION . THE FLUSH MAGAZINE ON THE RUGER IS NICE AND HAS A CAPACITY OF NINE RDS. ?? I BELIEVE ,VERSES 7RDS. BY MARLIN 5 RDS. BY SAVAGE . YOU DIDN'T MENTION THE CZ. CZ'S ARE WORTH TAKING A LOOK AT ALSO.

I Have had a savage for about 2 years and it is great. Have shot about 500 rounds through it. Shoots one hole groups on a non windy day at 50 yards and Have shot crows pushing 200 yards and they drop. For the price i dont think it can be beat and i would shoot agenst and ruger and the savage would hold its own. 0 -
recon,I have a Thompson Center Contender carbine that will shoot a dime size group at 100yds from a good rest,just my .02 0
