Overnight shipping
In reading the previous posts about shipping handguns, is the overnight or next day shipping required by law or simply a UPS or FEDX guideline? thanks, mw

I believe it is a UPS, and Fed Ex thing. When I ship using USPS.

It kinda depends on who you get at UPS or FEDEX. I had a pistol shipped to me after buying it off GB and the poor fella I bought it from was turned down at both places. They would not ship a pistol. Ended up shipping through USPS. 0 -
Both UPS & FEDEX prohibit nonlicensees from shipping guns that they sold. You must tell them that your package contains a firearm, & you must request an "Adult signature required" tag, but there's no reason why you can't declare the contents as "firearm for repair".
Nonlicensees cannot ship handguns through USPS. Drockcbr's seller may yet get a visit from the fellas with the bulges in the cheap suits.

I did not mean that he personally sent it through USPS. He had to take it to his FFL and send it to my FFL holder. I guess I thought I was implying that since we all know USPS will not ship a gun without FFL. I was just stating that he had quite a bit of trouble with UPS and FEDEX. Sorry for the misunderstanding. 0 -

UPS will ship firearms for any legal purpose, including sale. Here is a quote from their tariff:
Firearms will be transported between licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers and licensed collectors, as defined in the United States Gun Control Act of 1968 (Public Law 90-618, enacted October 22, 1968), as amended by the Firearms Owners' Protection Act (P.L. 99-308, approved May 19, 1986, and a subsequent amendment thereto, P.L. 99-360, approved July 8, 1986)("the acts"). law enforcement agencies of the United States or of any department or agency thereof, and law enforcement agencies of any State or any department, agency, or political subdivision thereof, and between persons not otherwise prohibited from shipping firearms by federal, state, or local law and when such shipment complies with all applicable federal, state and local law. The shipper must affix a UPS label requesting an adult signature upon delivery to each package containing a firerm. Adult means a person 21 years of age or older. UPS, in its sole discretion, may require the shipper to select a UPS Next Day Air Service for any shipment containing a firearm. Handguns, as defined by the Acts, will only be accepted for transportation via UPS Next Day Air Services, but will not be accepted for transportation via UPS Drop Boxes, Internet Shipping, or in response to a request for On-Call Pickup Service. Firearms, including handguns, will not be accepted when presented for shipment at locations of The UPS Store or any Third Party Retailer (as described in Item 1090).0 -

Sometimes even the post office, doesnt know their own laws.
The postmaster was telling me the only way to ship a handgun was registered mail, overnite, he was yelling at me..So I pulled out the
USPOSTAL, regulations, and showed, him that this was HIS PUBLICATION,and HIS LAWS..So he allowed it to be shipped US PRIORITY
mail. Much cheaper..And the insurance is cheap.0
