H.B. Cruso Shotgun
I am trying to find some info on a shotgun that is owned by a friend. It is a single barrel breach load shotgun. The only markings we have been able to find are on the reciever they are a bird or a fowl that resemble a family crest that link onto the name H.B. Cruso. The only other markings are on top of the barrel and they read 12 ga. choke. This shot gun was purchased at the first part of the 20th century. We don't know if it was bought new or used so we don't have a definite date to go on. So if anyone has ever heard of a manufacturer by the name H.B. Cruso and the origins and any info on this shotgun we would appreciate the help so he can donate it to the gun museum in Cody, Wy.

Cruso was a "Trade Name" used by a large Chicago wholesaler, ( Hibbard,Spencer, Bartlett and Company ). These were "Hardware Guns" that were made by Crescent Arms Company. It would date to the early part of the 20th Century.

What You have is a CRUSO---Trade name used by the Hibbard, [Spencer,] Bartlett Company. Made by Crescent Fire Arms Company
Stevens Arms also made the Shotgun and used the Trade Name CRUSO..These were sold thru Mail Order Catalogs and in Hardware Stores...Inexpensive Farm Guns for the Midwest Trade...Sold New for $4.95 Plus Postage and or Shipping via Railway Express....In Excellent Condition this gun is worth $125.00...Value go's down from there...Good Condition...$65.00....Fair Condition....$35.00...Poor Condition....Whatever someone is willing to pay for it....?
