will a 22 rifle work w/o an extractor

sent a customer a gun says there isn't an extractor or extractor spring.. I test fired the gun and it works fine. here are his findings..
Shot two boxes (100 rounds) with 10 round mag. Breaks down:

1 test fire OK
2-10 two stovepipes
11-20 OK
21-30 OK
31-40 OK
41-50 one stovepipe
51-60 OK
61-70 one stovepipe
71-80 two stovepipes
81-90 one stovepipe
91-100 OK

    It depends.

    Some guns extract only by blowback gases (Beretta 950, 21A, etc) & were not made with an extractor. If a gun was designed with an extractor, I would not expect it to extract reliably without one. It might, I just wouldn't expect it to.

    This is a 22 rifle. I thought stove pipe problems were feeding problems not extraction problem.

    A "stove pipe" is a fired shell that failed to be ejected. Fired are shells are usually expelled from a semi auto by a combination of 1)extraction, & 2) ejection.

    I have never seen a .22 rifle without an extractor,How would you unload it if you decided not to fire off all the rounds? [:(]

    I wouldn't think that an extractorless rifle would have been made in any recent decades. And, if it is a semi-auto (the only way you can have a stove-pipe situation) then I would suspect there needs to be an extractor somewhere. As well,..and as has been stated, how do you remove the live round? sounds like a factory issue to me.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    I do not know of a properly functioning 22 rimfire rifle that operates without an extractor. Just what make of firarm is your customer having a problem with?

    Gevarm makes a .22 lr semi auto without an extractor, works on the blow back principle.

    Yes, Gevarm is a .22 semi-auto rifle and a tradename of Gevelot, which are built in St. Etienne, France.
