Glass for Weatherby Vanguard

I just bought a SS .270 Weatherby Vanguard for deer hunting. What should I expect to spend for a scope. Cost of the gun was a little over $400.00. Any suggestions/tips greatly appreciated.

    Expect to spend as much as you can afford! You laid out the cash for a good gun dont get cheap when it comes to glass. spend at least $300.

    Look at the Burris signature series, great value for the money. These hold zero and have lenses far better than the price would dictate.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    You might consider a Leupold Vari-X I orII depending on what you can afford, or a Nikon UCC Model. The Peupold will have a lifetime warranty whether it's new or used, and by the way, a good deal CAN be had on a quality used scope if you know what you're doing! BEST ADVICE; Look around and buy the best scope you can afford, a$500 rifle with a $100 dollar scope is worth $100 (or less). There are others who are no boubt more qualified than I to give you good advise on optics, others will see your thread and chime in before long. Good luck!

    [8D]Yo Hang-Fire, I have 6 Weatherby MK 5 and 3 Weatherby Vanguard VGX-mainly because I'm collecting WBY Delux/Vanguard VGX---Because of value-- I've got Wby Supreme 3x9 40mm scopes on the maj. and LEUPOLD MK11 ON THE OTHER-You can't buy the Supreme any more,but you can the Leu. and they will take ALL the recoil that you can! The 270 WBY has a very DECENT recoil, so be careful of the Warrantee of what ever you buy.[:p][:p][}:)][:D]

    Thanks for the input jimbowby! Glad to see that someone else is impressed with the workmanship of the Weatherby Vanguards. I never thought I'd own a Weatherby until I spotted the Vans. I think I'll take your advise and look into the Leupold scopes because of the quality and warranty!

    Check out the Sightron scopes. I have one of their 3X9X42
    middl-cost scopes and it is brighter than my Leupolds!

    I recently bought a howa 30-06 lighting 1500 .I tried 2 differant scopes and finally bought a third one.Its a bushnell elite 4200.By far the clearest scope i could get for the money(natchez sells them for 328:00).There optic quality is back and its also a lifetime guarantee and a no questions asked money back if not satisfied! You wont be dissapointed.Id also like to ad to get some good scope mounts because they do make a differance!
