Remington 700 in 6mm
What is the 6mm round good for? Is it a sniper round or can you hunt with it?

The 6mm is a Varmint to Deer round. Great for target shooting, Varmints of all kinds and Deer and Antelope. Depending on your size of Deer you should be using an 85 to 100 grain bullet for that work.
The 6mm and .243 are nearly identical in performance and both are fun to shoot, low on recoil and consequently people tend to shoot them more accurately. On Deer size animals they work very well, better than you might think they would.0 -
Snellstrom hit it right on the head. Almost identical to the .243, the 6mm came out the same year and was originally called the .244. Because of the twist of the .244, it couldn't be used on larger game like deer and antelope and in turn it never caught on like the .243. Remington then changed the twist and renamed the cartridge to 6mm. I think Snellstrom covered everything else. 0 -

bambihunter...i have one in a remington 700 bdl...gun is basically mint, with very nice wood..newer model with the cut checkering...i am in the process of switching over my collection to the older pressed checkered models...still havent found one in the 6mm, so thats why i have been hanging on to this...would entertain a good offer though.. 0 -
