a Herstal .30 Mauser bolt action
I am following an auction of what looks like a nice rifle. It is listed as a Herstal .30 Mauser bolt action. What is a .30 Mauser?

7.63X25 for the Mauser Broomhandle pistol. If the rifle is strong enough it should be able to use the Soviet 7.62X25.
It occurs to me that since it is a rifle they may be talking about the German service rifle cartridge.0 -
The 30 Mauser Rifle Cartridge is more commonly known as the 7.65 x 53mm Mauser. It was the military cartridge used by Belgium, Turkey, Argentina and a number of other countries in South America.
Although the ammo isn't as common as the other ex military cartridges it is still available in small quantities and in commerical loadings.
Power wise it is equivalent to the 7.62 x 51mm/.308 Winchester.

Herstal,is in Belguim..... I'm wondering if maybe You're talking about an F.N. Mauser Action,in 30-06 made for a Country like Peru.....?..Clearer Information would be of emmence help....Is there a CREST on the forward end of the Reciever...?....

Thank you. I thought it was a pistol cartridge which would not be chambered in a rifle and wondered if, in fact, it might be a .30-06 instead. I would think that the 7.62 would be marked on the rifle rather than .30. I'm checking with the retailer to see if I can't get more information. 0 -

For Your Information....I've owned TWO Mauser Rifles...Both were F.N. Mauser Actions and Stamped .30 and were both 30-06...one was from Mexico and the Other from Peru....Goathead from the Wanted Forums got the Peruvian Mauser away from Me...The Mexican Mauser went to My Nephew in Prescott, Arizona....Those 30-06 Mauser's from F.N. Herstal and shipped to the South American Country's and Mexico are quite desirable to Collectors and in Good Condition.......Best...
