Yugo SKS, how do I remove the bayonet? *Done-Easy!

I went to remove the bayonet from my sks last night and the screw just wouldnt budge. I looked on the back side of the screw (it's exposed) and there are two tiny dots that hit both the screw and housing, it looks almost like some sort of punch strike. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it off?

Well, I found a screwdriver bit that fully fit the width of the slot and heaved at it a couple of times but it still wouldnt turn. I put the bit in a ratchet and with little to no effort the screw came right out. Thanks for all the advice!

    Its probably stuck just spray it with some oil and let it sit then try and un-screw the screw.

    Those are "Stake" marks.

    Get hold of a heavy duty screwdriver with a square shank and a blade that fits the screw correctly. Strap the SKS down securely so it can't move. Put all your weight on the screwdriver, at the same time turn the square shank of the screwdriver with a 12" Crescent Wrench. Your going to have to trust me on this, one way or the other, something is going to give.

    Listen to what Rufe-Snow is telling You...and be Super Cautious....if the Screw Driver slips out of the slot you stand the chance of Stabbing Yourself in the Belly....Its happend before....!

    I had to use one of the hammer type impact drivers to get mine off

    If you have access or own Snap-On scrwedrivers the have a spot on the shank right near the handle for a 3/8 wrench. This may be a little more secure and will permit greater torque than a Crescent wrench. You will grrr the screw.

    I drilled out the stakings with a drill press. Screw came right off.

    I would use the advise chunkstyle gave. You can use a drill press or a dremel tool to remove the stakes, they should'nt be that deep. Just don't get carried away[:D] and damage something.
