Remington 700 ADL to BDL

i am interested in buying a 700 ADL synthetic in 204 as one seller has them for $340. i don't care for the synthetic, so i am thinking about buying a short action BDL stock and putting the barrelled action in it. what am i going to have to do to make it work? how can i put in a magazine release? or is this just a bad idea to begin with?

    Hello the adl stock and trigger guard can be swapped for a BDL and TRIGGER guard . Go to a gun show and buy a complete rifle and swap the parts hjust make sure it has same barrel contour.

    One thing you may want to consider..........
    I think the BDL came with a better finish on the barrel and reciever than the ADL, I'm not 100% on this but I recall the ADL finish and blue not being as "glossy" of a blueing job as the BDL. Check it out, I may be wrong though.[;)]

    You can buy the BDL parts from Brownells.com, and they just drop in no fitting is required.
    The barrel contour has nothing to do with it.
    Buy a ADL wood or laminate stock and save some money over changing to a BDL, unless you just like the hinged floorplate in the BDL.

    Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

    Hi, I think you will find that till you spend the money for all the parts. You might as well just buy the BDL.

    Brownells has the changeover kit for about $130, and if you want to really do it right, you can buy the kit to convert it to a dropout magazine for $200 at Brownells. I know this because I planned on doing the same thing with a .243ADL. For the extra money, the dropout magazine is the way to go.

    Don't forget to look for auctions like GB and others. You can usually get a pretty good deal if you are patient. You will need 3 things the 1.trigger guard/floor plate, 2.action screws and 3. magazine box. You can reuse the spring and follower.
