PA-63 de-cocker problem

I have a PA-63 that will not allow the decocker to engage. It just will not let you thumb down the thing. Never had this problem before. Anyone have any adise? If I pull the hammer back just a hair and push down on the decocker it works fine. I'm at a loss.
