    That's the second version of the original Bushmaster rifle. I had one of the even earlier versions with the maple stock.

    There internal operating system was similar to the Kalashnikov. Mine functioned well, as long as you didn't try to feed it reloads.

    They date to the early 70's. Started out in N. Carolina then moved to Maine. The currently manufactured AR clones date to the early 90's. Don't believe those original ones, as shown on the auction were made any later then the late 80's.

    That particular model of rifle was made by Gwinn Arms of Winston-Salem, NC, between 1972 and 1974.

    Is it just me or does the reciever on that look like sheet metal crap? On another note I highly doubt that A much superior AR would mate with an AK (just my opinion so noone harp on me[:)]) Although come to think of it an HK and And AR would make a fantastic couple and thier children would be sweet. [:)] I know Im nuts lol

    The receiver is alloy, This is the Gwinn Bushmaster Rifle, from late 70s to nud eighties, Uses the AR mag and trigger group resembles AR internals..the one I had definitely had the selector for fire/safe from an AR. Gas system is similar to the Kalashnikov
