Need a guestimate--Remington 513-T

I came across a .22 lr that someone is interested in selling.
The Matchmaster Model 513-T. The only other number I can find is possibly the S/N 1218xx. The stock has been painted black (eek!) unfortunately. The stock is a monster--flat forend for bench shooting I'm sure. Unfortunately, it doesn't look original although I don't know. I believe the finish on the barrel is not original either but I am uncertain as I don't know what these rifles looked like originally. The rear sight is an adjustable Lyman sight. I can find no other identifying marks. The seller wants $50.00 to $75.00. What is this gun worth? I don't want to be ripped off and I don't want to rip him off. I know it is difficult to get a hard estimate but an educated guess is better than nothing.

    I know nothing of the 513t however i know that i would pay 50-75$ for most any remington 22 that would shoot. For what its worth.

    I've owned several 513's and really liked them. For 50-75 you can't go wrong. Too bad about the stock. I like the wood on my 513's better than the wood on my Winchester 75's! I like the clip release on the Winchesters better than the Remington, but other than that they are about the same to shoot etc. &%'s have more collectors value

    Buy it!!!!!!!!!! Feel very guilty later. That's one fine rifle.

    A similar one, with a stock painted OD green went for $275 locally, I thought that was too much, but someone else obviously didn't. Bolts are worth $50-75, the sight is $75, but be aware many of the parts are not readily available. That being said if you want to double your money, let me know.

    This reply will not answer your question, but maybe it will help to bracket a value.

    According to the Blue Book, 25th edition, a 100% Remington Model 513 Target is valued at $395.00 and a 60% rifle is valued at $125.00.

    Sounds like $50.00 to $75.00 may not be a bad deal for buyer or seller.

    When I was in ROTC in the 50's we used 513 T s on rifle range. I now have one that was military surplus. It is the best shooting rifle that I have. It doesn't like target ammo. Shoots Winchester Hollowpoints better than anything else. From a rest it will make one hole groups at 50 yards. Hope yours is as good.

    don't just do what tobefree says...RUN, AND BUY IT! for that price. They are very accurate rifles. You can strip the paint off once it's yours

    FyI There are still NOS parts available for these rifles. Remington must have produced tons of extra barrels and enternals, The only nos part that I have not been able to locate is the receiver. Also Boyd's makes stocks for these old Remingtons that can't be told from the originals for $56, but super nice stocks are out there in the military surplus market as the 513T was used as a training rifle. As for running out and buying it like I said, HaaaaaHAHA if you know anything about this rifle you should know that you can part it out on ebay and more than get you moola back if you don't like it.

    My grandad gave me a 513T about a year ago.His health isn't real good and he said for to take it and enjoy it.

    Only one thing has kept me from shooting it so far.

    NO Rear Sight.Seems to have come up missing some years ago.

    Does anyone know where to find a reasonably priced sight in good shape or maybe have an extra that needs a good home?
