Colt Police Positive..Which model??
My friend has a 38SP Colt Police positive in nice shape but with some horrible aftermarket grips. I contacted Joy at Vintage gun grips . com and they have FIVE different grips for the various models of that gun. I know I want the black plastic ones with the fancy tooling. but I need to know if her gun is an early model, late model, this, that, etc. THe serial # is: 475197 ANy help on this? Thanks!!

According to http://proofhouse.com/colt/ your friends revolver is a "Police Positive Special" that was made in 1941.
Best go to the above link and double check the serial number, as Colt made a number of different models of Police Positive.

If the PPS in question was made in 1941, it would have had wood stocks originally, not fleur-de-lis hard rubber, which ended in 1923. The butt frame size and shape varied in the early part of production, but by 1941, all PPS revolvers had the same shape and size in a square butt. 0
