Concealed Carry - Glock 30 vs. XD .45
I'm thinking about a smaller CC piece. Right now I have a Glock 22 and am finding that it is a little bulky. Thinking about a little more horsepower and a little less mass. Glock 30 looks good but I am thinking maybe a Springfield XD in .45 with a 4" barrel. I think that the grips on the XD still look a bit large for CC and approch the size of the G22.

I don't think either of these would make a real improvement for CC. Why not look at either a Glock 23 or the Glock 27? Most of the LE guys pack the latter for backup or off duty for the 22 they carry daily. Skill transfer would be optimum.
Both of your choices are a bit chunky for CC even if they work. A 40 is plenty for any gunfight you are likely to get into. And a 45 works best in a full size gun IMHO.

I have owned a Glock 30 and also a Glock 36. The G30 did not fit my hand well. I settled on the G36 with a modified grip (Little finger under the Magazine) as it was more comfortable to me to fire.
I suggest you shoot any compact firearm before you purchase it if possible. I fell in love with the G30 and bought it without having ever fired one. As I said before, it was not comfortable to shoot and I had to regrip after 2 to 3 rounds.

Go with the XD. I have it in the Sub 9mm and the .40 Service (4"). I use both for conceal carry. I had a Glock 23 and Glock 30 and wasn't
impressed.IMHO.
