New Nagant value? collectable?
Hi, i have what appears to be a new Nagant rifle, 1953 stamp,
s# KT260xx, 11 in an oval. All the numbers match, it has a spike bayonet and it does NOT appear to be a rework (all the marks under the blueing are still crisp, no signs of it being polished at all). The gun appears to be unfired. Any idea on its value? Is it collectable due to condition? Thanks to the experts in advance- chad

collectable? well i supose, but as i'm sure you are aware there is a large number of these m44's on the market right now so even in the condition you state it won't bring much. You don't mention if it is Russian or Romanian or Polish or there are several variables that will affect the value. I've not paid over $50.00 for an m44 but then mine were used. well, I'm assuming it's a m44 I guess we really need more info. But one answere i can give. I think mosins are collectable they just aren't worth alot of money. [:)] 0 -

The importers marking on your Carbine is correct. You have a Model 1944 Carbine, manufactured in Poland ( "11 in a oval" ). They were only manufactured for a short period of time during the early 1950's.
Many different types of Model 1944 Carbines from the ex east-bloc countries have been imported in recent years. I owned a Polish one similar to yours a number of years ago. Condition and quality wise, I felt that they, ( Polish 1944 ) were the best of the bunch.
Value wise, because of the glut of 1944's being sold for less then $100, the prices of even the nicest ones have not risen appreciatively. My 2 cents is that if yours is in excellent condition, and all-matching. It would be in the $150 - $250 price range.
