Help in deciding which 44 magnum to buy

decided to get a 44 magnum
i dont care about the finish
it must have a few features I want
reasonable cost
adjustable rear sight (mandatory)
nice sights are a bonus....dont want a long barrel
4-6" is fine
one other feature
it must either have rubber grips with the finger grips or be a model of whick i can obtain them
this gun will not have heavy fire
ABOUT 12 RNDS PER---month
will shoot at least 50 rounds when i 1st get it.
thats about it.

    Get a taurus then if you want a cheap good 44 magnum they make one called a mod 44 available in many different barrel lenghts it is available in stainless or blue has an adjustable rear site has your rubber finger groove grips is accurate and will last a long time.

    I had a S&W model 29 for a while with the six inch barrel in nickel I think. Anyway it was a tack-driver, a little too big for my use but a great gun none the less.

    I like my Anaconda. Good factory rubber grip too. Should hold its value pretty well too.

    Ruger superblackhawk. Put Hogue grips on the gun and shoot 44 specials.

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    The "classic" model 29 5" with the full under barrel structure is what I bought. It is very very accurate. It is also a decent compromise between long and short barrels. I carrey it hunting and keep it for household defence. The 44mag loaded down to about 1000fps isn't the threat to the neighbors that the full on mag loadings are. These are probably still available used and new in one of the stainless styles.

    Ruger Redhawk with 5 1/2" barrel , comes from the factory with wood grips but after market grips are easy to come by ,, double action, adjustable sights, comes in blued or stainless ,, great all around gun

    I was going to say S&W model 629 (model29 not made any more) or the Colt Anaconda, but others users recommended it first.



    Regardless; I will mention it again: S & W model 629 or Colt Anaconda. Both are execellent guns.

    Another vote for the Super Blackhawk. Hard to beat for accuracy.

    You can't go wrong with Taurus, S&W or Ruger. I don't have experience with the others. My personal preference for woods carry is 5.5" barrel altho I have taken more deer with 7.5". If you reload a good all around load is 9 gr Unique and 240 gr Semi wadcutter lead bullet. This is a light load not a hunting load but it will still shoot completely thru a deer broadside. My hunting loads are 20 grs of 2400 and 240 JHP bullet

    Colt Anaconda...Pricy, but will hold it's value better and quite accurate. I have over 3000 rounds though mine without a hitch.

    Guns only have two enemies: Rust and Liberals....
