Bennelli M1 Super 90 Barrell Info needed
I have a M1 Super 90. It has a 26 in barrell on it now. I want a shorter barrell but have been unable to find one until I found a slightly used 18" slug barrell.(12ga Magnum)
Im not planning on shooting any slugs, but will this barrell be ok for regular 12ga shotgun shells?
Where can I purchase a new short barrell. What lenght barrell would have came on my gun? I know the 26" was installed after the gun was purchased new.

My M 1 Super 90 had an 18 and 1/4 inch barrel on it from the factory. Is the "slug" barrel rifled? If not, it would probably be the same as the short barrel. Should work fine I would think. 0 -

tgf600....... Your 18" barrel will work fine with bird shot, buck shot or slugs. It is just a shorter version of the 26" you already have.
I have several super 90's, a Super Black Eagle, and a Legacy. They are all top notch shotguns. Now days with the advent of rifled shotgun barrels, the term "slug barrel" is usually reserved for the rifled shotgun barrels made by several companies.
The problem with rifled barrels is they only work well with slugs. If you shoot bird or buck from a rifled barrel the shot charge is spun and spreads out way too fast to be of much use.
Your Super 90 probably came with a 26" or 28" barrel originally. I prefer the 26" for hunting as it swings quicker and you dont loose anything with the 26". The main difference in the Benelli 18" "combat" barrels and the longer "hunting" barrels is the longer ones have a ventilated rib with a bead sight, and the "combat" barrels have rifle sights or ghost ring sights.
