Dura coat question
I had a chance to look close up at some dura coat and it looked like a gloss finish. The one I want to take down looks (is) flat, more like parkerizing. Only thing is it's black as night.

Dura coat can be matte finish or gloss, by adding more hardener.

Duracoat's "matte black" normally dries to a matte finish. Mooseyard is correct in his statement. Adding slightly more hardener will give you a glossier finish. They offer 3 versions of clear that can be applied as well to vary your gloss; matte, satin and high gloss. You can also use their "HK Black" which will dry to a semi-gloss without the use of a clear. Sounds though that you would need the matte black sprayed without clear topcoat to achieve the finish you're looking for.
