Best Factory Barrel Made?
I'm wanting to buy a new deer rifle and know this will probably generate a few mixed opinions, that's fine. What manufacturer is currently making the most accurate box stock barrels. IE remington, ruger, sako, winchester...etc All opinions are welcome. I just don't want to spend 1500+ for a scope and rifle then turn around and not be happy with the tube. Thanks in advance.

remington 700 can't be beat. you can go with a synthetic ADL or get the nice BDL's but make sure it is this years model. don't get ones made from 2000-2004. make them order it for you so you make sure its a 2005.

3 replies, fairly slow, was hoping for a little more direction. I have a few rifles, the most recent a ruger I bought used, it's mint but about 8 yrs old. Not knocking savage at all just thought there'd be more input in general on some of the manufacturers quality/accuracy out of the box. With advancement in metallurgy or even rifling quality I thought there might be more opinions. I'll be getting a stainless model either laminated or an all weather type stock, I'm leaning towards a 270 winchester but have looked at the 25wssm also. Planning on a Leupold vari-x III or possibly a Burris, have heard good about them recently.
I figured with opinions on everything from dinosaurs to religion to how's your love life, someone was bound to talk about guns here someday. Thanks again.

Unless you're going to be shooting deer at 500 yards from a table rest, any of the above mentioned will be more accurate than you can shoot.
IMO....the best "out of the gox accuracy for the buck bargain" would be a Savage.0 -

Its not that there are'nt any opinions, its that Savage si known for their accuracy right out of the box. They also have a lot of different models and calibers to choose from. 0 -
I work part time at a range in Southern Wisconsin (McMiller Sports center near Eagle and Whitewater) and can say with fair authority that the most accurate rifles in the under $1500 box stock class is...Savage. I know this doesn't answere your question exactly, but they can't be beat for the combination of great trigger, stiff reciever and really good barrels. The fact that they happen to come in pricewise in the lower part of the aforementioned sub $1500 rifle/scope combo list is just (in my opinion) a bonus.
A friend has been avidly shooting his 12VS in 22-250 (leupold 24 power scope)around 200 rounds a week for four months now and I see no erosion at all in the tube, and would go so far as to say any wear has been so slow and gradual that I have not seen it happen! Gun came out of the box shooting rounds at (after a suitable and meticulous break-in period) around "1 1/4 at 100 and with load developement (we got him into that in addition to helping him decide on a rifle)it now clusters nicely around "1/2 and with boring repeatability!
If price were no object, I would go Kimber of Oregon, Cooper or Jarret, but the rifles alone themselves are in excess of $1500 so the marginally better cryo treated tubes don't to my way of thinking warrant the extra cost for the blue collar shooter/hunter. There's little debating how nice a Cooper looks and how well they handle, but there's little argueing with "1/2 groups regardless of WHAT they come out of!!!

Well at this point its apparent that the majority says Savage. I appreciate the input. A couple of you were thinking remington. Again thanks to all. I guess I'll have to think about it. I guess Savage has improved much over the last 10 yrs or so, it seem that they had a reputation for building poor overall quality guns back when. Sounds like they've changed for the better. I thought I might get some input on the Sako's or Tikka's but apparently they didn't make the short list.
