Can someone tell me where I could find a cartridge stop for a J.C. Higgins model 583.4 12 ga. bolt. I have already tried E-gunparts.com and they are sold out. Any info would be appreciated.

    I have a J.C. Higgins 12 gauge bolt action shotgun and was told that Sears had a recall on these a few years back. Does anyone know if this is correct.

    J.C. Higgins was not really a line of firearms. J.C. Higgins was a brand name sold by Sears. The firearms were made for Sears by a variety of manufacturers. In almost all cases they were economy versions of the uderlying manufacturers model. That means that they generally had plainer wood, no checkering non-adjustable sites or other cost-saving changes. They have generated scant collector interest, and always sell as shooters. You can look up who built various models for Sears in the Cross reference section of the Blue Book or at http://www.e-gunparts.com/crossref.asp
