Maverick Shotguns

Anybody got any experience with these, not necassarily in any particular gauge just overall. I was told they are a side brand from Marlin ??

    They are a "Side Brand" of Mossberg, I have a Maverick 88 and a Mossberg 500 and side by side you can't tell them apart; never a problem with them.

    Bought one for a teenage son some years ago - 12 ga, Invector chokes. It has held up well in the hands of a crew that can put a bowling ball out of round. It has been on lots of duck hunts, boat-bounced, overnight camp-outs, etc. It had a firing pin problem (I think) that Mossberg took care of quickly and at no cost, even paying the freight. It still works fine and is no more (edit) homelier-looking today than when it was new.

    Besides the safety they're mechanicaly the same. They both, Mossberg 500 and Maverick 88 have aluminum receivers but the 550's get a kind of bushes in the forearm for easy sliding and less efffort in the action. Mine have been very reliable and though a little basic for hunting as a Home weapon are more than OK. Luck.

    all they are is a synthetic mossberg with a saftey above the trigger instead of the top of the reciver. Mossberg definatly not a marlin. They are just as good as a 500 asuminng its and 88 if you grew up on a 500 its hard to switch
